Majorca is a beautiful Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea, located close to its wilder neighbor Ibiza. Its magnificent beaches and proximity to mainland Europe make it one of the most popular places for seaside getaways. <\/p>\n\n

Whatever type of beach you like, with around 345 different beaches, Mallorca is bound to have a place for you. There are secluded, hidden beaches nestled in coves and canyons, such as Sa Calobra, as well as wide beaches lined with promenades, hotels, boutiques and caf\u00e9s, such as C\u2019an Pastilla. <\/p>\n\n

The island boasts many Blue Flag beaches. This is an international designation indicating that they meet strict standards of environmental management, health and safety. <\/p>\n\n

Although the island isn\u2019t very big, renting a car is the best way to get around, so you can discover the island\u2019s beauty freely and at your own pace. High season is summer, from June to August. A visit during what\u2019s known as the shoulder season, in May or September\/October, is really ideal for enjoying magnificent weather with more peace and quiet. <\/p>\n\n

1. The magnificent beach of Cala do Muro (Playa de Muro or Muro beach) on the island\u2019s south coast<\/h2>\n\n

This small white-sand beach is absolutely sublime. The distance between Cala do Muro and the seaside resort of Palma de Mallorca is around 60 kilometers. It takes approximately one hour by car to travel between the two. <\/p>\n\n

This wild beach is owned and cared for by a private foundation, so it\u2019s beautifully maintained and preserved. That\u2019s why you won\u2019t see any hotels, beach bars or sun loungers. <\/p>\n\n

To get there, you have to walk down a rocky path along a cliff. This somewhat difficult path makes the arrival on the beach, just a few meters long, really special. <\/p>\n\n

As you can see, the beach itself is very small, and when the season is in full swing, it\u2019s often crowded. But if you come in mid-May, it\u2019s much quieter. In this area, you also have access to a neighboring beach called Cala S\u2019Almonia, just a few minutes\u2019 walk from Calo des Moro beach. <\/p>\n\n

Cala S\u2019Almonia isn\u2019t quite as beautiful, but it\u2019s a bigger beach and much more spacious than its neighbor, so you can always put your towel down and enjoy the space and sea views.<\/p>\n\n

2. Among the most beautiful beaches: Formentor on Mallorca\u2019s north coast<\/h2>\n\n

Formentor stretches for a kilometer around the bay, its narrow beach set against the backdrop of the Tramuntana mountains, with pine-covered hills descending almost to the water\u2019s edge.<\/p>\n\n

Formentor is about 6 km from the port of Pollen\u00e7a. It\u2019s one of Mallorca\u2019s favorite beaches for those who love, above all else, to feel at one with nature. <\/p>\n\n

The beach has its own bar\/restaurant, offering sit-down and take-away meals. For a more upscale meal, opt for the La Veranda restaurant. It\u2019s very popular with celebrities. It\u2019s an excellent choice for seafood and local dishes. <\/p>\n\n

For chips, soft drinks and snacks, there\u2019s a beach hut and an ice-cream parlour at the entrance.<\/p>\n\n

The beach also offers a good choice of water sports, including diving equipment, as well as pedalo, canoe and sailboat hire, so you can explore the bay at your own pace.<\/p>\n\n

With its shallow coastal waters and lifeguards on duty all summer long, it\u2019s a popular beach for families with young children.<\/p>\n\n

3. Discover the beaches and coves of Cala Ratjada in south-east Majorca<\/h2>\n\n

Cala Agulla is a beautiful cove located next to the tourist resort of Cala Ratjada in the municipality of Capdepera. It is a large beach of fine sand and clear water, some 800 meters long. <\/p>\n\n

The setting of this beach is magnificent. It is surrounded by vegetation in a very deep inlet, as if it were a small bay. Access is through a pine forest. The contrast between the shade of the pines, the white of the sand and the turquoise tones of the sea is spectacular. <\/p>\n\n

It\u2019s a popular beach with tourists and locals alike. The sea is always very clean and generally quite calm. <\/p>\n\n

From this beach, you can also reach Cala Molt\u00f3, a spectacular cove just a 5-minute walk away.<\/p>\n\n

The beach is fully equipped with hammocks, umbrellas, water sports activities, lifeguards, etc. There are also bars and restaurants close to the beach. <\/p>\n\n

4. West coast beaches: Sa Calobra cove<\/h2>\n\n

We\u2019ve already mentioned the drive up to Sa Calobra, which, with its breathtaking slopes and numerous hairpins, is probably the highlight of the Sa Calobra visit, but the beach of the same name is also very pleasant!<\/p>\n\n

The setting is magnificent, and you have to pass through a long tunnel in the mountainside to reach the beach. It\u2019s made up of small pebbles instead of sand, but the water is so beautiful that it\u2019s well worth the trip! <\/p>\n\n

This is perhaps the prettiest place you\u2019ll have the chance to swim in Mallorca, as there are plenty of fish and the surrounding cliffs offer more than spectacular views.<\/p>\n\n

5. Cala Pi beach in the south of Majorca<\/h2>\n\n

Cala Pi, also known as Playa de Cala Pi, is a small beach that\u2019s one of the most popular in our top 5. You\u2019ll love its location between high cliffs, where a special atmosphere reigns. There\u2019s a beach hut where you can buy drinks and snacks, and the beach itself, although quite narrow, stretches far out, leaving plenty of room to settle in and sunbathe on the sand. <\/p>\n\n
