Saint-Martin’s nightlife offers an endless choice of things to do: pool parties, beach parties, live music in nightclubs. As the sun goes down, the island dons its festive attire and the atmosphere changes. Renowned for its lively nightlife, the island still has plenty to offer after dark. From casinos to bars and beach clubs, the island comes alive with a touch of the exotic, taking you into the fervor of the West Indies.
Nicknamed “friendly island” in French, Saint-Martin / Sint Maarten has two names and two nations that exist in perfect harmony, and it’s possible to party on either side. The island is known as one of the Caribbean’s nightlife hotspots. So follow the guide to discover the local nightlife!
Harmony Nights: the best popular street party on the island of Saint-Martin
Harmony Lights is a weekly party that offers you a real concentrate of Caribbean culture. It’s the place to go if you really want to get a feel for the local festivities. Harmony Nights takes place every Tuesday during the winter months in the town of Grand Case, at the north-western tip of the French part of the island.
Don’t expect to be the only one there. It’s a very popular event for locals and tourists alike. Grand Case changes its face, and the town is invaded by an impressive crowd when the party and parade take place in the colorful streets. Speaking of the parade, it’s the highlight of the event. It usually crosses the seafront boulevard at around 8 p.m., with bands, drums and dancers dressed in magnificent sequined costumes. Don’t miss the local arts and crafts market, where you can grab a bite to eat from street food stalls that are sure to impress with their Creole flavours!
Treehab Pool Party, the perfect place to celebrate your Caribbean vacation
Treehab Pool Party is quite surprising, as it has a touch of Mykonos with accents of Hawaiian tiki culture. This rather hidden and confidential party takes place at Loterie Farm, a nature reserve with the feel of a small paradise, located about 10 minutes’ drive south of Grand Case on the French side.
Your entrance ticket gives you access to a secret place with a large swimming pool, several bamboo terraces and cabanas. DJs spin the decks, accompanied by the chirping of hummingbirds. The event starts early, around midday, and lasts at least 8 hours, until the sun disappears.
Loterie Farm is located on Rue du Pic Paradis in St Martin. It’s a great place to meet up with friends and dance in lush, beautiful surroundings.
The Topper Room Distillery
Topper’s Rum Distillery is the place to go in St. Maarten for a taste of one of the Caribbean’s most famous drinks. It’s located in a very accessible spot on Welfare Road, just south of the airport and west of Philipsburg.
Guided tours are available until 5 pm. Don’t let that put you off coming here after dinner. The rum factory remains open for lovers of fragrant elixirs. This place is packed with creative drinks, including Topper’s white rum, which is the island’s trademark. If you like flavored rums, you’ll have an impressive choice here. We recommend the white chocolate and raspberry rum, which will thrill your taste buds. Everything available for sale at Topper is handcrafted and bottled on the island.
Le Lotus, partying till dawn
Lotus nightclub opens its doors well after dinnertime, three nights a week, to offer some of the finest partying St. Maarten has to offer. It’s located on the south side of Simpson Bay beach, a 25-minute drive from Philipsburg.
It’s a classic mega-club with a huge central dance floor. The box office offers parties hosted by the island’s hottest DJs. Other events include fancy dress Saturdays and happy hours. In the VIP section, you can rub shoulders with celebrities and enjoy all-night table service.
Casino Royale, a Saint-Martin legend
The Casino Royale Maho Village is one of Saint-Martin’s largest gaming complexes. It’s hard to miss. The place occupies an impressive 1,950 square meters, with slot machines and poker tables.
As you enter, you’ll be greeted by all the casino classics. Blackjack tables rub shoulders with roulette wheels. There’s even a self-service sports betting area and chic VIP areas with high-limit slot machines. The casino is part of the Sonesta Resort, which also boasts five restaurants and a spa, in case you fancy a bite to eat.
The Hole in the Wall
The Hole in the Wall rumbles to the sound of the Rolling Stones and the Beatles spinning on the turntables, as well as a whole host of local artists on Saint-Martin. It’s one of the best places to hear live music on the island. The Hole in The Wall is in the heart of Rhine Road nightlife, just north of Maho Beach.
Things start to move in the early evening, as night falls, from around 7pm. That’s when the Hole in the Wall doors open and the bands start playing. Here, everyone is invited to sing along and show off their best dance moves on the dance floor. The bar offers a wide range of whisky, imported beers and, of course, rum.
The Red Piano Lounge to celebrate music
The Red Piano Lounge is located in the heart of Pelican Key. It’s a must-see venue that has been voted the best concert hall on the island of Saint-Martin. Artists from all over the world perform here, dazzling a diverse crowd with their musical talents. The Red Piano Lounge offers live music 7 days a week, and features everything from piano jazz to reggae.
Various events are held throughout the week at the Red Piano Lounge, including a popular St. Martin band, “Church on a Monday”, which plays every Monday night, and world-renowned pianists, guitarists and DJs who play Tuesday through Sunday evenings.
